Why Gymnastics and Fitness is Important: - Today's children are considered the most inactive generation. - Inactivity and poor dietary habits have contributed to this generation's lack of fitness which has been identified as one of the leading causes of health problems. - Statistics indicate that one in three kids are overweight or obese today, a percentage that has more than doubled in the last 30 years. - Kids receive the benefits of cardiovascular exercise, balance, strength and flexibility through participation in fun activities and skills such as gymnastics. - The basics of gymnastics provide a solid foundation for becoming physically fit and preparing to participate in other activities and sports. |
National Gymnastics Day encourages physical fitness through fun contests with an emphasis on strength training, cardiovascular exercise and flexibility. |
